Birmingham native Christopher Davis is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design with a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design. He as an illustrator and designer at Southern Living Magazine for 10 years. Currently, he is a full-time artist, graphic designer, writer and entertainer. Christopher performs improv comedy with the Extemporaneous Theater Company (ETC), Ugly Baby Improv and hosts Fresh Ground Comics, a monthly stand-up comedy show. His lively art ranges from colorful dog paintings, black and white illustrations, custom pet portraits (Drawdog Pet Portraits), and his series of paintings of Vulcan. He’s had one man shows at Rojo Restaurant, has works currently on display at Naked Art Gallery, exhibits in many local art festivals and was named Magic city Art connections’ 2013 Emerging Artist of the year.
The works displayed are part of his new series of abstract art pieces. These works seek to show an array of colors and free form. Some aspects of the new works almost mimic elements on a microscopic or cellular level. There is an emphasis on motion in most of the pieces. The range of motion in the paintings leap from circular, linear and times, reckless abandon.
